Kenya 06 | Church birthed as revival sweeps Busia
29 November 2006
A campaign dubbed ‘Mission Impossible’ has resulted in the birthing of a new church after the Christian message was preached in a region for the first ever time.
Local leaders said the Shake The Nations Great Gospel Crusade of November 2006 would be written in history books and taught to generations for years to come. The news comes after thousands of people - many who had never heard the name of Christ - responded to the Gospel and converted to Christianity.
During the campaign, Evangelist Nathan Morris witnessed more than 7,000 people respond to the Gospel, whilst many healings took place amongst the people, who lived near to the town of Busia in Western Kenya.
More than 15 deaf/mutes testified of healing, as did hundreds of others of various sicknesses and diseases, including the blind, lame and those with tumours.
Following the campaign, new converts were baptised by Evangelist Nathan and his team, and during the baptism, people again testified of healing and were filled with the Holy Spirit.
Host pastor and organiser Gerald Okoth said, ‘I want to thank God because He is God. His power continues to amaze us and we are delighted with how the crusade has gone. Before the crusades we said it would be mission impossible, but God has shown up in great power, I give Him all the glory.
“These meetings will go down in the history books of the local tribe, and children will hear about the crusade and learn about it in schools for years to come. We are now focusing on the new church, and are excited about how it can be develop.’
Evangelist Nathan added, ‘This was revival coming to an area, we were just God’s vessels. It was remarkable, as we felt we were in such a Sovereign move of God. I thank God for all He did in those precious lives.’
Miracles included:
*One woman was carried to the crusade on the back of a bike after she had been bed-ridden for three months. But after receiving prayer, she began to walk and run around the crusade field.
*One man was paralysed in his legs but following the crusade, he could be seen riding his bike throughout the villages.
*A little girl who had been deaf and mute from birth began to shout ‘JESUS’ down the microphone, much to the joy of the ecstatic crowd.
*A woman with a tumour in her stomach was celebrating after she was totally healed by the power of God.
*One woman was considering suicide after her son and daughter had died in car accidents. She had turned to alcohol and was drinking heavily, but she was totally set free after being baptised in water after receiving salvation at the crusade.
*Two brothers and a sister who were born deaf and dumb were healed on stage.
