Tanzania 08 | Crippled children walk
24 September 2008
Thousands of people filled the altars at the tremendous Gospel crusade held in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, in September.
Although the crowds were much smaller than expected, the move of God was phenomenal, particularly amongst young children.
Crippled babies walked to their mothers on the stage after being healed, whilst children who were demon-possessed after being taken to witchdoctors were miraculously set free.
Many were healed at the crusade, and testified to the jubilant crowd about their miracle:
Doris Mursali, 65, could not walk without assistance for almost 25 years. She had visited doctors and had an x-ray, but no treatment was available for her condition. She received a miracle in the crusade, and immediately came to the pulpit to testify.
She said, ‘I had severe pain in my leg and I could not sit down or stand up without help. But Jesus has touched me, I feel much younger! I love Jesus very much and he has done a great miracle for me.’
Six-year-old Gwameka Musakjuma, who couldn’t walk without a crutch, was brought to the crusade by his Auntie Christina Samatele.
She told the crowd, ‘He was walking with a crutch and had to spend one month in hospital. In July, he had been playing with his friends and had fallen down. The pain was so dreadful and he couldn’t walk without the aid. After prayer he started to walk and is now not using his stick. In fact, he has thrown it away. I heard about the crusade from announcements in the street and there is great peace in my heart.’
Neema Dickson was heartbroken because her baby boy Nelson was unable to stand straight or walk. But after prayer at the crusade, the 18-month old was miraculously healed.
Neema said, ‘He had pain his stomach and legs which stopped him from standing or walking. He came to the crusade and now he can walk! I have served God for 20 years but have never seen anything like this. I am so happy.’
Festo Thomasy, 30, had been deaf in his right ear for 21 years. He told of how he was healed by the power of God.
‘I came to Dar Es Salaam to see my friends but then heard about the crusade through advertisements’, he said.
‘On the first day of the crusade I became a Christian, and on the second day I asked God to heal me. I was deaf in my right ear but after prayer I can now hear perfectly.’
50-year-old Martin Shem had been blind in his right eye for ten years. On the second night of the crusade, Evangelist Nathan gave a word of knowledge for someone who was suffering with this condition. Martin responded, and was supernaturally healed.
He said, ‘I could not see at all in that eye and now I can see! I closed my eyes during the prayer time and when I opened them I could see! I became a Christian on the first night of the crusade. This event has made my life wonderful and happy.’
