“When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord, He brought me into a spacious place. The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”
Psalm 118:5-6
Have you felt hard-pressed lately? Is there a situation where the pressure feels relentless—like the walls are closing in and the weight is too much to carry? Maybe you’re in the fight of your life, trying to hold the line while every side seems to press in. The Psalmist David knew this place well. But he also knew the answer: Cry out to the Lord.
When we lift our eyes to the hills, as David does in Psalm 121, “I lift up my eyes to the hills, from where does my help come from?” we make a powerful decision to shift our gaze from the pressure to the One who holds our deliverance. There must be a conscious decision on our part to turn our focus from the earthly problems, challenges, and anxieties and to fix our gaze and release our cry unto the Lord. We must recognize through the eyes of faith that God alone is our source of help. Our dependence is utterly on Him and Him alone. We must completely put our trust in His ability to provide the divine assistance and help we need.
With this shift in focus, He can bring us into a spacious place. The Lord has a mighty deliverance for you. He plans to ultimately set you free and deliver you from the things that are pressing in on you. He has a spacious place in store for you. This is a place of freedom from all confinement and containment.
This spacious place is not just physical, it’s spiritual. It’s where anxiety cannot follow, fear cannot reign, and oppression must break. It is a realm of freedom where God’s Presence surrounds you and His victory empowers you. You don’t belong in the pit—you were made for wide-open places where your feet won’t stumble, and your soul can breathe again!
When you know the Lord is on your side, who can really be against you? Romans 8:31 is a constant reminder that when God is working on your behalf, no other plan against you can prevail. No weapon or plan of the enemy can prosper. No negative report over your life can stand. All the external words spoken over your life are cancelled, and His Word alone prevails!
With God on your side, you shall not be afraid, nor shall you be moved. The enemy wants to see you shrink back in fear and give up your God given territory. Instead, the Lord is giving you the opportunity to be strong and courageous, pushing back against the enemy and not giving him an inch!
Our prayer is that the Lord strengthen, empower, and encourage you in the fight. We declare over you today: Step into the spacious place. Walk in His freedom. Rest in His victory. You are not alone. You are not losing. You are advancing.
May you have greater confidence and rest assured knowing you are not alone in the fight and that the battle belongs to the Lord.
