The Wonder of Christmas

“Glory to God in the highest,And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

Luke 2:14

The wonder of Christmas is far more than twinkling lights, wrapped gifts, or stockings hung by the fireplace. It is the remembrance of the greatest gift ever given to mankind. Christmas is not about materialism; it is about the message of salvation extended to all who believe.

The Gospel of Luke shines a light on the true meaning of why we celebrate this season. It tells the story of a King who entered the world not with pomp or extravagance, but in humility. Born in a manger because there was no room in the inn, wrapped in swaddling clothes, and placed in surroundings that seemed so unfit for royalty. From the very beginning, the life of Jesus was marked by lowliness and humility.

From the stable to the star in the East, God used the birth of His Son to draw humanity to the One who would become the ultimate plan of salvation. Not an ordinary king building an earthly kingdom, but the One who would lay down His life so that we might be reconciled to God. His life for our freedom. He came to bring hope to the hopeless, joy to the brokenhearted, and peace to those in despair. This is the Good News of the Gospel: the Savior of the world has come to redeem us from sin and restore us to the Father.

This Christmas, may we remember the true reason for the season, not money, not materialism, not the temporary pleasures of the holidays, but Jesus Christ, the Hope of the world. He is the One who gives us an eternal inheritance “that can never perish, spoil, or fade,” reserved in heaven for all believers (1 Peter 1:4–5). May we be mindful of anything that crowds Him out of our celebrations and choose to keep Christ at the center of Christmas. Let us declare together, as the heavenly choir once did: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” (Luke 2:14)

From all of us at Shake The Nations Ministries, we pray that you experience the wonder of His love this Christmas and enjoy a blessed New Year!
